Requiring a considerable amount of consultation with the local community, the local council and several occupant organisations, the project has evolved to incorporate a replacement cricket pavilion, council offices, children’s extracurricular provision and facilities for numerous community groups.
Comprising refurbishment of an existing building, new construction and external works, the project required careful cost management and a methodology that optimised site efficiencies, utilising offsite prefabrication. Incorporating a number of sustainable strategies, the design exploits its exposed location and expansive roof. Robust and secure during unoccupied hours, the pavilion lends interest by employing resilient materials within an articulated façade.
