The practice has specialist skills in the health sector, gained from long-term involvement in the development of care homes, hospices and primary care buildings. A mixture of NHS organisations and charities form the client base.

Our major healthcare projects were won in design competitions. The approach adopted in these and other health projects is to focus on the well-being of the building users: patients, staff, and visitors.

Landscape design is an important component of this – the relationship between a building and its external environment is a key factor in design for well-being. Other components include the quality of light, colour, texture, and legibility. A sensitive approach to design and an appropriate architectural language are fundamental to healthcare buildings.
