• Bath Central Stations
We were commissioned as the Architects and Heritage Consultants for Hochtief, the contractor responsible for the electrification of the major Intercity line through the Bath Corridor. This included works to the Grade II* listed Isambard Kingdom Brunel station, just south of the centre of the World Heritage Site of Bath.
In order to accommodate the upcoming Intercity Express Programme trains, the tracks were slewed away from both platforms so that the new trains will clear the existing Victorian canopies and the platforms widened and re-profiled to provide compliant stepping distances to and from the trains.Platform extensions at the Bristol end out over the adjacent listed Skew Bridge with new glazed back-walls will allow full use of the new Intercity Express Programme trains.
The works were completed during a Temporary Period Of Disruption (TPOD) over Easter 2017 and brought into service on programme.
