This station upgrade greatly enhanced the appearance and facilities of this nineteenth century Network Rail station, inserting contemporary elements into the existing station.
The work comprised a completely re-configured booking hall with a new ticket office facility, refurbishment work to platform surfaces, platform buildings and canopies plus a section of completely new canopies. All new and refurbished accommodation is designed to comply with DDA legislation.
Value engineering and design development and was included at the outset and we selected cantilevered structures avoiding disruptive foundation excavation near the running rails.
