Acanthus Architects LW prepared proposals for the environmental improvement of Herbert Road, Woolwich. Liveability Funding was used to undertake public realm works, with the aim of creating a cleaner, safer, greener and more sustainable public environment. Regular meetings were held throughout the design stage of the project to ensure that each stakeholder’s role and requirements were understood and to enable the proposals to evolve in consultation with the local community. The proposal set out to restore, where possible, the existing Victorian elements of the streetscape and through the use of sensitive modern interventions and a mix of reclaimed and new materials improve the visual appearance of Herbert Road.
