Acanthus LW collaborated with Sarah Granville to complete the first new horse riding centre to be built in inner London in 30 years for Brixton based charity The Ebony Horse Club. The centre was opened by the charity’s President, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in 2011.

The project which regenerated railway arches and neglected open space, creates many benefits for the local community. Previously riding was undertaken in Richmond but having the horses in Brixton means that the charity can provide horse riding, outdoor activities and mentoring to many more deserving young people.

The client’s verdict on the finished project was: “…you have designed a space that will be the best possible environment for the horses given the constraints of the urban environment… I think you’ve done an amazing job.”
